Is your bedroom designed for a good night’s sleep?

May 13, 2025

The quality of sleep you get each night can determine the entire trajectory of your day. While a good night’s rest may have you waking up feeling recharged and energized, a poor night’s sleep can make your day drag on and on and on…

We often focus on bedtime routines and lifestyle habits to improve sleep, but what about the space we sleep in? Your bedroom environment plays a significant role in how well you rest.

Here are five tips to ensure your bedroom is designed for a good night’s sleep!

1. Declutter Daily

A cluttered room can create a restless mind. Before bed, tidy your nightstand, dresser, and floors to ensure your space feels clear and open. This will also help if you wake up in the night needing to use the bathroom–no stumbling over any items left on the floor!

2.  Update Your Lighting

Dim, warm lighting signals your brain that it’s time to wind down. Blackout curtains can block streetlights or early morning sun, while a soft bedside lamp keeps things cozy for pre-bed reading. For an ultimate cozy night time, be intentional about the types of lighting you have in your bedroom.

3. Find What Sounds Work For You

Noise can be a sleep disruptor. If total silence isn’t achievable, consider a white noise machine or calming soundscapes to drown out disturbances. As you find what types of sounds work best for you, your mind and body will connect that noise with sleep and help you fall asleep faster.

4. Prioritize Comfort

Both the material and quality of your sheets, bedding, pillows, and mattress can affect your quality of sleep. Determine if it’s time to update any of your bedding to help you feel as comfortable as possible. If you sleep hot, consider buying bedding made from breathable materials like cotton or linen. Your body needs proper alignment and temperature regulation for uninterrupted sleep.

5. Consider the Temperature

The ideal sleep temperature is around 65°F (18°C). If that feels chilly, layer your bedding so you can adjust as needed.

By optimizing your bedroom for sleep, you can create a space that promotes deep rest and rejuvenation. Small changes to your environment can make a big difference in how refreshed you feel each morning.

When people move to Lake Oswego, they often think it’s all about the beautiful homes, top schools, and proximity to Portland.

But what makes people stay?
Morning walks by the lake.
Cafe’s where they know your name.
A downtown that still feels small-town.
Easy access to trails, parks, and water.
Neighbors who look out for each other.
Weekends that unfold without a plan.
That perfect balance of calm and convenience.
A community that feels connected, grounded, and proud to call this place home.

If you’re thinking about calling Lake Oswego home, this is what it’s really like to live here... not just visit.

There’s something about Pacific City, the quiet stretch of beach, the sunset glow, and the bald eagle that sometimes walks right along the shore near its nest. 🌅

It’s simple, beautiful, and everything I love about Oregon.

Less is more… especially when selling your home! 👏

Think of it as pre-moving day prep: take it to the dump, donate what you don’t need, and pack up the rest. Your future self (and your listing photos) will thank you. 📦📸

What’s lurking in your crawl space? 👀
Could be rodents, fallen ducting, or standing water.
Sellers, check it before you list.
